Robert O’Leary has been selected to serve as publisher for Digital First Media’s New York newspapers, including the Saratogian, the Troy Record, Kingston’s Daily Freeman, and the Oneida Dispatch.
An announcement posted to the Saratogian’s website says O’Leary previously served as general manager of the Daily Freeman. O’Leary also worked at the Poughkeepsie Journal and the Daily Gazette.
Several staff members, including the editors of the Saratogian and Record, accepted a voluntary buyout from Digital First Media last month. For the past several months the two papers have been working with a combined newsroom.
It was also announced this week that Saratogian publisher Michael O’Sullivan accepted the buyout.
