The embattled mayor of a Saratoga County village has resigned.
Stillwater Mayor Rick Nelson, recently arrested on child pornography charges, has officially resigned from his position. State police said the 62-year-old mayor was arrested after an investigation by the Computer Crime Unit.
Nelson has been charged with one felony count each of promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child. Nelson is due back in court Wednesday.
Deputy Mayor Frank Tatum is now serving as Acting Mayor, according to the village website.
A special meeting of the Village Board of Trustees will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m.
